Layers of our planning
1.Progression document and Long Term Plan
This document begins with an overview of the year, broken into half termly sections. It details our themes/ topics, assessment opportunities, possible enrichment, parental involvement and our wider coverage that enables us to plan and deliver key skills that are essential in preparing children in readiness to access the KS1 curriculum.
Our progression document shows the progression from Nursery to Reception across all 7 areas of learning. This is drawn from the statutory framework and further supported by the non-statutory Development Matters guidance.
2. Medium Term plan
This takes the statements from our progression document and we generate our ‘I will know’ headings that are going to be covered across each half term. This allows us to clearly plan what we will be teaching the children so that they are able to achieve the statements in our progression document.
3. Weekly plan
This uses the ‘I will know’ statements from our Medium Term plan and maps the sessions out from all 7 areas into a weekly timetable. It includes key vocabulary and continuous provision enhancements linked to the taught sessions across the week. It also details additional sessions within our weekly timetable such as 3x a week Little Wandle reading sessions and Wave 2 Interventions.
Each parent has access to Evidence Me which is used weekly to share a range of information and learning moments. Key documents include Knowledge Organisers, Medium Term plans and Weekly Working Together Ideas. Staff also share and respond to individual observation entries, which supports home learning and next steps for each child.
At Montbelle, we recognise the importance of early language and aim to ensure that within our EYFS children are immersed in language rich environments. We also have 4 members of staff in school who are trained to deliver the Early Talk Boost intervention. More information about this intervention can be found below.
